PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Melissa recently joined Morton McGoldrick, PLLC after working at a specialized Virginia law firm since 2017. Melissa specializes in land use and eminent domain law. She also has experience in business law and estate planning and is particularly interested in the tax implications in both areas.
EDUCATION
Melissa received her JD from George Mason University in the outskirts of Washington, D.C. She graduated with a concentration in tax law and was heavily involved in the school’s negotiation and mediation competitions, business law society, and the Journal of International Commercial Law. Prior to law school, she attended Montana State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English.

PERSONAL
Melissa was raised in a military family and has never lived anywhere for longer than a few years. After meeting her husband Dakota, a Kirkland native, she fell in love with the landscape and community of the Pacific Northwest. Melissa attained membership to the Virginia bar in 2020, and then passed a second bar exam in 2021 to gain admission to practice law in Washington state. Melissa, Dakota, and their two dogs (Juniper and Ullr) are excited to start planting roots in the area.
